Rec Therapy Summer Positions
The Bradford Woods Recreation Therapy department has been a leader in providing summer camp experiences for children with chronic illnesses and disabilities for nearly 60 years. Every year, we hire staff members with a diverse range of backgrounds and positions to work directly with these campers and give them an experience they won’t forget.
Below is a list of positions we’re looking to fill this summer. Summer Staff 2017 Positions
The five leadership team members (two Cabin Life Coordinators, two Logistics Coordinators, and one Health Center coordinator) play a key leadership role for all of the summer staff at Bradford Woods.
Program staff members design and implement programs and activities in the areas of Recreation, Creative Arts, Nature, Music, Nutrition/Dietetics, Evening Program, and more. Programs and activities will be developed around camper needs, interests, and goals.

Cabin Life staff implement programs and activities within a cabin, and are the individuals responsible for the physical, social, and emotional care of a cabin group. Each cabin group consists of approximately 8-10 campers and 3-5 staff.

The Laundry Staff lead the organization and cleaning of all laundry at camp. This position also keeps the laundry area clean and operable and reports any maintenance concerns to the housekeeping team leader. This position is responsible for all duties involved in the laundry room. Laundry staff positions are part-time.
A nursing role at Bradford Woods is a very multifaceted, fast-paced position. Nurses bring medications to the campers and staff wherever the campers and staff are, i.e. campers and staff only visit the Health Center under ‘atypical’ situations. Therefore nurses are ‘out and about’ extensively, visiting our cabins as well as our program areas. Nurses are hired on a week-to-week basis.
The Therapeutic Recreation Intern has a very multifaceted role at Bradford Woods. The Intern will live in the cabins part of the time during the summer where they will assist with personal and physical care of the participants as well as gain training and experience in the provision of Recreation Therapy services for our participants. This will include conducting assessments, writing goals and objectives, and keeping documentation throughout the participant’s stay at camp. RT interns also rotate through each of our program areas. While in these program areas interns will complete population analysis and be responsible for devising activity plans based upon these analyses and the goals/objectives of the group. Interns may also be asked to facilitate activities in each of these areas. Lastly, interns will need to complete a project for Bradford Woods as well as keep a journal of his/her experiences.
