History of the Partnership
In 1986, Cheryl Miller and her daughter Dawn were given the opportunity to partner with Indiana University and Riley Children’s Foundation and travel to Indiana University Bradford Woods. Cheryl and Dawn started a unique summer program that allowed children with disabilities to work directly with horses one-on-one. This summer program was the start of Agape Therapeutic Riding Resources, Inc., and it was in this fertile ground that Agape’s grassroots growth into a mission-centered organization took root. In time, this collaboration developed into a truly miraculous partnership with far-reaching impact.
In the three decades since, Agape has developed into one of Indiana’s oldest and most respected therapeutic riding centers. Headquartered in Cicero, Indiana, its 13-acre facility includes wooded trails, 19 horses, and a heated indoor arena. With its recent re-accreditation as Premier Accredited PATH Intl. and expansion to the Bradford Woods campus, Agape is aiming to provide services to even more clients across the central Indiana area.
