As we prepare to celebrate Memorial Day with family and friends, I’d like to take this opportunity to pause and remember those who have fallen in service to their country. It’s not wars that we’re remembering on this national holiday. Rather, we are remembering those who served and gave their last full measure of devotion in order to insure that the freedoms that this country offers to all would be able to be passed on to the next generations. They remind us of the cost of freedom and of the quality of our character as a nation. We do not gather on this holiday to glorify wars. Rather, we are challenged to remember that when war comes unbidden to us, there are those who are willing to give their all to defend this nation.
I hope that we will all take a moment on Monday, in between hanging out with family and friends and firing up the grill…if even for a fleeting moment, we all hit the pause button and realize the meaning of this day off from work and school.
Bradford Woods thanks and honors those who paid the ultimate price. We vow to continue to remember and to serve our veterans on the Homefront.
