Logistics Coordinator (2)
Description of Position
Logistics Coordinator positions involve working hands-on with children and adults with disabilities and/or chronic illnesses, as well as taking a leadership role in the overall facilitation and leading of all program activities and working closely with all program instructors and camp sponsors. This position will work closely with the program director of camp and will lead all programmatic activities. This position will be an integral part of the summer camp leadership team.

Position Prerequisites
1. Prior experience in working with people with disabilities, strong leadership skills, and leading summer camp programs is highly preferred.
2. Knowledge of Bradford Woods’ camps and programs is also desirable.


Cabin Life Coordinator (2)
Description of Position
The Cabin Life Coordinator positions works closely with the Camp Coordinator in leading all staff in developing a positive experience for the participants. This position involves supervision and support for all cabin staff, as well as communication with the families of the campers, camp sponsors, and the medical staff. This position will also lead orientation and training for new staff. This position will be an integral part of the summer camp leadership team.

Position Prerequisites
1. Prior experience in working with people with disabilities, strong leadership skills, and leading summer camp programs is highly preferred.
Bradford Woods provides all necessary training.
2. Knowledge of Bradford Woods’ camps and programs is also desirable.



Program Instructors (7)
Description of Position
The Program Instructors design and implement programs and activities
in the areas of recreation, waterfront, creative arts, nature, and outdoor living skills (program areas assigned by sessions). Programs and activities will be developed around camper needs, interests, and goals. This position will also assist in the development and implementation of evening activities including but not limited to: campfires, games nights, scavenger hunts, and so forth. When the activities at the assigned program area are not in session, this position work with the campers and assist the cabin staff in all activities of daily living. The opportunity may also exist for Program Instructor to assist the Logistics Coordinator in the overall coordination and administration of our smaller camp programs.

Position Prerequisites
1. Prior experience in leading programs and activities is highly preferred. Bradford Woods provides all necessary training.

Barn Director (1)
Description of Position
Organize, lead, and supervise a program of instructional and recreational horse barn activities designed to meet each participant’s needs. NARHA Certified Director will take the main lead in coordinating all barn events and activities including, but not limited to: acquisition of horse-barn releases, assignment of responsibilities for horse-barn program staff, and program design and delivery. This position will be expected to work closely with our Program Specialist of “main” camp to help insure the best collaborative efforts in regards to scheduling of riders and staff. This position will also be the main person responsible for the “after hour” care of the horses and other animals and will work collaboratively with the Program Specialist if more staff is needed to adequately meet these “after hour” duties. This position will also work closely with the Agape Program Director to insure safety of all classes and proper care for the horses in accordance with NARHA standards.

Position Prerequisites
1. Must be at least 21 years of age.
2. Must have NAHRA certification to lead therapeutic riding activities and lessons.
3. Interest in working with people with disabilities and chronic illnesses.

Barn Assistant Director(1)
Description of Position
Assist in the organization, leading, and supervision of a program of instructional and recreational horse-barn activities designed to meet each participant’s needs. The Assistant Director will help in coordinating all barn events and activities including, but not limited to: acquisition of horse-barn releases, assignment of responsibilities for horse-barn program staff, and program design and delivery. In the Horse Barn Program Director’s absence, this position will assume the main responsibility for the aforementioned responsibilities. This position may also need to assist in the “after hours” care of the horses and other barn animals as designated by the Horse Barn Program Director.

Position Prerequisites
1. Interest in working with people with disabilities and chronic illnesses.
2. Appropriate experience, skill level, and maturity to lead activities involving horses and therapeutic riding.
3. Ability and desire to assume leadership and provide direct guidance and supervision in Horse Barn Program Director’s absence.

Barn Program Instructors (4)
Description of Position
The Barn Program Instructor Positions work with the Barn Director to organize and lead instructional and recreational horse-barn activities designed to meet each participants needs. Programs and activities will be developed around camper needs, interests and goals. During the day, the position will assist the lead instructor(s) with riding and grooming lessons. When participants are not riding they will provide a barn program that fully engages the campers at their social, emotional, and physical ability levels. When the activities at the barn are not in session, this position will work with the campers in cabins and assist the cabin staff in all activities of daily living. This position may also assist in the development and implementation of evening activities including but not limited to: campfires, games nights, scavenger hunts, and so forth.

Position Prerequisites
1. Prior experience in working with horses is required.
2. Interest in leading programs and being part of an active and dynamic team.
3. Interest in working with people with disabilities and chronic illnesses.

Barn Assistants/Sidewalkers(6)
Description of Position
Horse barn sidewalkers will assist the Barn Directors and program instructors in the maintenance of a safe, fun, and successful horse barn experience. This may include assisting the staff in leading riding lessons, assisting the staff in leading barn activities, assisting the staff in the care and grooming of the horses and other animals and assisting the staff in the care of the barn and overall grounds surrounding the barn. This is a part time position requiring own transportation.

Position Prerequisites
1. Must be at least 15 years of age.
2. Interest in working with people with disabilities and chronic illnesses.
3. Stamina to endure long hours in a position that is both physically and emotionally demanding.
4. Prior knowledge, training, and/or experience in designated program area


Waterfront Director (1)
Description of Position
Organize, lead, and supervise a program of instructional and recreational waterfront activities at both the pool and the lakefront, designed to meet each participants needs. Assist in developing and implementing activity plans for activities including, but not limited to, swimming at pool and lake, fishing, pontoon boating, and canoeing. Provide on-going supervision, training, instruction, and evaluation to the Waterfront Assistant Instructor and Waterfront Staff. Conduct and document pre and post inventories of all aquatic equipment. Conduct on-going equipment checks to insure optimal safety of staff and participants. When the activities and responsibilities at the assigned program area are not in session, this position work with the campers and assist the cabin staff in all activities of daily living.

Position Prerequisites
1. Must be at least 21 years of age to meet ACA requirements.
2. Must have: current lifeguard certification, waterfront module certification, current CPR for the Professional Rescuer and First Aid.
3. Prior knowledge, training, and/or experience in designated program area.
4. Interest in working with people with disabilities and chronic illnesses.


Waterfront Assistant Director (1-2)
Description of Position
Assist the Waterfront Instructor in organizing, leading, and supervising a program of instructional and recreational waterfront activities designed to meet each participants needs. Develop and implement activity plans for each activity including, but not limited to, swimming at pool and lake, fishing, pontoon boating, and canoeing. Provide supervision, training, instruction, and evaluation to the Waterfront Staff. Assume the role of Waterfront Instructor when Instructor is absent or otherwise assigned. 1. Current Lifeguard, CPR for the Professional Rescuer and First Aid certifications are required.
2. Waterfront module certification preferred.
3. Prior knowledge, training, and/or experience in designated program area.

Lifeguard/Cabin Counselor (10)
Description of Position
This position will split time between the two roles. This position will work closely with the waterfront Director, lifeguarding activities at the pool and the lakefront. The position will work during the day and some evenings as a lifeguard. When not lifeguarding, this position will work as a cabin counselor. The Cabin Counselor position involves working hands-on with children and adults with disabilities and/or chronic illnesses. Cabin Counselors will live in the cabins with participants and will be responsible for assisting participants, to whatever degree necessary, with their activities of daily living. Cabin counselors will also assist participants, on an as needed basis, in program areas (waterfront, creative arts, camp outs, etc). Documentation will be kept on all of the above, for which cabin counselors are highly responsible.

Position Prerequisites
1. Interest in working with people with disabilities and chronic illnesses.
2. Ability to serve as a role model for all participants.
3. Current Lifeguard, First Aid and CPR for the Professional Rescuer, Waterfront module certifications are preferred.

Adventure Challenge Instructors (2-3)
Description of Position
Organize, lead, and supervise a program of instructional and recreational adventure challenge activities designed to meet each camper’s needs. Develop and implement activity plans for each activity including, but not limited to, the climbing wall, the universal high rise, the teams course, and ground initiatives. Provide supervision and instruction to fellow camp staff and Therapeutic Recreation Interns during challenge activities. When the activities at the assigned program area are not in session, this position work with the campers and assist the cabin staff in all activities of daily living.

Position Prerequisites
1. Previous experience facilitating challenge elements is preferred.
2. CPR and First Aid/WFA/WFR certification is preferred.
3. Interest in working with people with disabilities and chronic illnesses.

Program and Media Specialist (1)
Description of Position
The program and media specialist position will lead all media needs with the summer camp program. This includes all photography, weekly newsletters, website postings, slide shows, and other special events. This position will also assist the program staff in the implementation of media in programs and activities including dining hall programs and campfires. This position will work closely with the leadership team and the Bradford Woods technology coordinator to maintain and develop all media programs.

Position Prerequisites
1. Knowledge of digital camera use, PowerPoint, web based programs, and other media technology is required.
2. Experience in a camp and recreational setting and working with people with disabilities is highly preferred.



Cabin Head (10)
Description of Position
The Cabin Head position will be the leader of all programs and activities within a cabin. Cabin Heads are the individuals primarily responsible for the physical, social, and emotional care of a cabin group. Each cabin group consists of approximately 8-10 campers and 3-5 staff. Cabin Heads live in the cabins with participants and staff and provide overall direction, support, feedback, and supervision. This includes, but is not limited to, overseeing activities of daily living, personal care and physical care of campers, overseeing and ensuring quality and timely camper documentation, enforcement of BW policies and procedures, regular staff meetings and scheduled staff evaluations.

Position Prerequisites
1. Prior experience and/or knowledge in working with people with disabilities and chronic illnesses is highly preferred.
2. Strong leadership and supervision skills are also preferred.
3. CPR and First Aid certification is also preferred.

Cabin Counselor (40)
Description of Position
The Cabin Counselor position involves working hands-on with children and adults with disabilities and/or chronic illnesses. Cabin Counselors will live in the cabins with participants and will be responsible for assisting participants, to whatever degree necessary, with their activities of daily living. Cabin counselors will also assist participants, on an as needed basis, in program areas (waterfront, creative arts, camp outs, etc). Documentation will be kept on all of the above, for which cabin counselors are highly responsible.

Position Prerequisites
1. Interest in working with people with disabilities and chronic illnesses.
2. Ability to serve as a role model for all participants.

Cabin Counselor Assistant (2-4)
Description of Position
The Cabin Counselor Assistant position involves working hands-on with children and adults with disabilities and/or chronic illnesses. Cabin Counselor Assistants will live in the cabins with participants and will be responsible for assisting participants, to whatever degree necessary, with their activities of daily living (showering, dressing, bathing, eating, and so forth). This will be performed with assistance and mentoring from the assistant cabin and the cabin head as well as other cabin counselors. Cabin Counselor Assistants will also assist participants, on an as needed basis, in program areas (waterfront, creative arts, camp outs, etc). Documentation will be kept on all of the above, for which cabin counselor assistants will be learning and assisting the other staff in the cabin. The Cabin Counselor Assistant will have the opportunity to meet with a designated staff member periodically who will act as a mentor and provide guidance as needed. This position is for a two-week time period, one camp session, at which point skills and performance will be evaluated and if essential function of a cabin counselor are met, then the person in this role could stay for a longer duration as a cabin counselor.

Cabin Counselor/Laundry Assistant (4)
Description of Position
This position will split time between the two roles. The Laundry assistant leads the organization and cleaning of all laundry at camp. This position also keeps the laundry area clean and operable and reports any maintenance concerns to the housekeeping team leader. This position is responsible for all duties involved in the laundry room. The Cabin Counselor position involves working hands-on with children and adults with disabilities and/or chronic illnesses. Cabin Counselors will live in the cabins with participants and will be responsible for assisting participants, to whatever degree necessary, with their activities of daily living. Cabin counselors will also assist participants, on an as needed basis, in program areas (waterfront, creative arts, camp outs, etc). Documentation will be kept on all of the above, for which cabin counselors are highly responsible.

Position Prerequisites

Registered Nurse/Graduate Nurse (10)
Description of Position
A nursing role at Bradford Woods is a very multi-faceted, fast paced position. Nurses bring medications to the campers and staff where ever the campers and staff are, i.e. campers and staff only visit the Health Center under ‘atypical’ situations. Therefore nurses are ‘out and about’ extensively, visiting our cabins as well as our program areas. A majority of the time at camp will be spent sorting and passing medications. Nurses will also serve as the primary support for campers and staff whenever campers are experiencing difficulty in their normal routine or normal functioning (troubleshooting, assessing, offering advice/support…). This support is provided very collaboratively involving the camper, the camper’s family, the cabin staff who know that camper best, as well as the camp physician (when on site) and the camp medical director. Camp Nurses will also be responsible for maintaining all aspects of proper medical protocol and proper medical documentation.

Position Prerequisites
1. Must have a current license to practice nursing in Indiana.
2. Must be a registered nurse or a graduate nurse.
3. Must have an interest in practicing nursing in a non-traditional environment.
4. Those in this role must love and embrace not only the camp environment but also the camp philosophy, which is one of campers coming first, community, and fun!


Student Nurse/Cabin Counselor (10)
Description of Position
The Student Nurse position involves working hands-on with children and adults with disabilities and/or chronic illnesses. Students Nurses will spend the majority of their experience living in the cabins with participants and will be responsible for assisting participants, to whatever degree necessary, with their activities of daily living . Student Nurses will also assist participants, on an as needed basis, in program areas (waterfront, creative arts, camp outs, etc). Documentation will be kept on all of the above, for which all staff are highly responsible. In addition, Student Nurses will also spend a duration of time in our Health Center (times TBD) where they will assist in all aspects of running an effective Health Care Center which follows a ‘camp model’. This may include, but not be limited to, the sorting and passing of medications, basic triage care, as well as transport of campers to Riley Hospital. The position will work closely with the lead nurse and the other members of the healthcare team

Position Prerequisites
1. Interest in working with people with disabilities and chronic illnesses.
2. Ability to serve as a role model for all participants.
3. Must be a junior or senior in an accredited undergraduate nursing program and must have coursework in pediatrics.

Therapeutic Recreation Intern (4)
Description of Position
The Therapeutic Recreation Intern has a very multi-faceted role at Bradford Woods.
The intern will live in the cabins part of the time during the summer where they will assist with personal and physical care of the participants as well as gain training and experience in the provision of therapeutic recreation services for our participants. This will include conducting assessments, writing goals and objectives, and keeping documentation throughout the participant’s stay at camp. TR interns also rotate through each of our five program areas (recreation, creative arts, outdoor living skills/nature, adventure challenge, and waterfront). While in these program areas interns will complete population analysis’ and be responsible for devising activity plans based upon these analysis’ and the goals/objectives of the group. Interns may also be asked to facilitate activities in each of these areas as well. Lastly, interns will need to complete a project for Bradford Woods as well as keep a journal of his/her experiences.

Position Prerequisites
1.Interest in working with people with disabilities and chronic illnesses.
2.Ability to serve as a role model for all participants.
3.Working toward a degree in Therapeutic Recreation and working toward certification as a Certified Therapeutic recreation Specialist.
